Alain didn't drive any races in 1992. He commented F1-races for the French TV-channel TF1 (Télévison Française 1)

There were rumors, that he would drive some races for Ligier together with Thierry Boutsen, but he didn't. He searched a good seat for 1993 and found it at Williams-Renault...
