Alain's Team had first tests with the Prost-Mugen Honda JS45/05 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 16th April until 18th April 1997, in Barcelona (Spain). The weather was nice on Wednesday and Thursday, but it rained on Friday. Olivier Panis drove 19 laps on Wednesday afternoon, 49 on Thursday, 65 on Friday, which is a total of 627 km completed! Olivier tested brakes and suspensions, so he was not there to drive a new record lap. Anyway, the best official lap time was a 1:20,37... Olivier worked on the set-up on Wednesday, then tested the brakes on Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately, he had a gearbox problem (electronic) on Thursday afternoon, so he could not drive too many laps... The suspension tests were cancelled because of the rain...
